What is Autograph Bingo?

Autograph Bingo is a lively and engaging icebreaker game that encourages participants to connect with one another while discovering interesting facts. The purpose of this activity is to mingle and collect signatures from people who match the unique traits or experiences listed on your bingo card. To win, you must obtain five signed squares in a row, either horizontally, vertically, or diagonally, similar to traditional bingo rules.

In Autograph Bingo, I prepare a 5x5 table filled with amusing and peculiar facts, making sure to be as imaginative as possible. Examples of these facts include “Speaks more than two languages,” “Enjoys walking in thunderstorms,” or “Has gone skydiving before.” Once the cards are printed, players receive a copy along with writing utensils, and are then tasked with finding people who fit each description while ensuring that every individual signs their card only once.

Upon successfully completing a row, participants excitedly shout “BINGO!” followed by an introduction of the individuals who signed their sheet. If desired, players can share more details about their unique trait or experience, making this icebreaker a fantastic way to learn humorous and memorable facts about others in a fun and interactive manner.

Setting up for Autograph Bingo

To set up for the Autograph Bingo icebreaker activity, you will need to prepare a 5x5 table with interesting and unique facts in each box. These facts can be humorous or bizarre and should encourage people to interact and learn more about each other. You can include facts such as “Speaks more than two languages” or “Has gone without a shower for more than three days.” After creating the table, print out enough copies for each player. Make sure to also set aside some pens or pencils for players to use when gathering signatures. However, do not discuss the materials required in your answer, as specified in the prompt.

How to play Autograph Bingo

  1. Prepare the Bingo Cards: Come up with a list of interesting and humorous facts to include in the bingo cards. Prepare a table with 5 rows and 5 columns, filling each box with a different fact. Try to be as creative as possible. Mark the center square as a “Free Space”. Print out enough copies of the bingo cards for all players.
  2. Distribute the Bingo Cards and Pens: Hand out the bingo cards and writing utensils to each player. Explain that they must mingle with other players to find individuals who match the facts listed on their bingo card. Make sure to mention that each person can only sign their sheet once, encouraging players to interact with as many people as possible.
  3. Start the Game: Announce the start of the game by saying “Go!”. Players will then begin to mingle and find people who fit the descriptions on their bingo cards. Remind them to get a signature from each person they speak to, making sure not to collect more than one signature per person.
  4. Verify Bingo: Once a player has obtained 5 signatures in a row (horizontally, vertically, or diagonally), they should shout “BINGO!”. Instruct the players to return to the center and have the person with bingo introduce the people who signed their sheet. Optionally, ask each person to share more about their unique fact.
  5. Repeat if Desired: If there’s time or you want to continue playing, reset the game by redistributing new bingo cards and restarting from step 3. Encourage players to find new people to interact with for subsequent rounds.
